In 2016, I led a UK delegation as IBBYUAE’s Guest of Honour for Sharjah’s Children Reading Festival. I attended with illustrator Alexis Deacon, author Dianne Hofmeyr and children’s literature specialist Julia Eccleshare. I participated in a panel discussion on ‘How Reading can be a Bridge between Cultures’. I met with publishers and authors to promote literature in translation.
